DIVEMASTER COURSE

PREREQUISITES: PADI Rescue Diver or an equivalent rating. Candidates must be physically fit and submit an approved medical-exam form for a diving-medical examination conducted within the last year and signed by a licensed physician. Medic First Aid or an equivalent CPR and First Aid training within the last three years.
MINIMUM AGE: 18 years of age prior to start of course.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: PADI Diver Training Manuals for the following courses, Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster. You will also need the PADI Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving and the PADI Diving Knowledge Workbook. Each Divemaster candidate must provide one photo. Photo must be turned in to the instructor prior to certification. (photo is to be ID size, coin machine photos are O.K.)
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Full Scuba to include mask, snorkel, fins, boots, tank, regulator with SPG and alternate air source, depth gauge, signaling device, BCD, knife/divers tool, compass, weight belt, timing device, appropriate exposure protection.
ASSIGNMENTS: Students must read each Module and complete the Knowledge Review prior to the corresponding classroom session. The Knowledge Reviews will be collected prior to each class sand become part of the student record. In addition the candidate will also need to submit an Emergency Assistance Plan and an Underwater Map.
SCHEDULE: The Divemaster Course consists of approximately 50 hours spread over three phases. The course may be scheduled either as a group class or an individual basis depending on the needs of the candidate. The phases of training are Watermanship and skills, Knowledge Development, and Practical Application. Course duration is dependent upon which schedule the instructor chooses. It can be completed in three weekends or ten weeks under normal schedules. It is possible to compress the training into a shorter time frame on an individual basis.
